CAMBRIDGE Premier Division Cup
Cambridge University Ladies 3rd XI (4) vs Market Deeping Ladies 1st XI (1)
Deeping made the long journey for an early start in Cambridge with a badly depleted side of just nine players. They can be proud of their efforts, especially keeper Ange Cox who was in her element, producing endlessly quality saves interspersed with the odd brilliant one to hold Cambridge at bay. Deeping kept their heads up, ran tirelessly from front to back of the team, and managed to draw the second half when Laura Thompson-Wright struck an accurate cross-cum-shot at a short corner which evaded the keeper.

DIVISION 2N
City of Peterborough 3rd XI (3) vs Market Deeping 1st XI (0)
Deeping went into the game against top of the table Peterborough knowing that they would have to be at their best.
Peterborough’s mixture of older heads and younger legs kept the ball well using the whole pitch. An early goal didn’t come though and Deeping started to get a foothold in the game and strung some moves of their own together.
However Peterborough took the lead with a reverse stick strike through a crowded D that beat the unsighted Tim Beaver in goal.
Deeping nearly equalised soon after when Chris Mann rounded the keeper before his shot was blocked with a last ditch tackle. Peterborough were a constant threat through the dribbling of their youngsters out wide and the assured passing from their more experienced colleagues.
Again Deeping almost equalised just before half time when the Peterborough keeper just got his toe to a shot from Russ Seton and made a fine save.
At half time the game was still on and Deeping thought they could still win. They should have scored early in the half when a quick break after an interception in their own 25 led to a chance for Andy Kind who unfortunately lost his bearings and fired wide.
Peterborough were soon back on the attack and Deeping were down to 10 men when Jason Purllant received a yellow card after taking the ball down above shoulder height.
Peterborough soon took advantage of this, converting a well-worked short corner by prodding in at the far post.
A third goal came during a scramble after Beaver had done well to block the first couple of shots but unfortunately the ball kept rebounding away from the defender’s sticks.
Deeping will be looking to get back to winning ways next week against newly promoted Norwich Dragons who have started the season well and beat Bourne 8-0 this week.
DIVISION 4NW
City of Peterborough 6th XI (1) vs Market Deeping 2nd XI (0)
A last minute winner ensured Peterborough remain top of Division 4 after a close fought game at Bretton Gate. There was little to choose between the sides throughout; both sides passing the ball well but unable to create much in the way of chances.
Nick Maxey came close to breaking the deadlock for Deeping, while at the other end Joe Wray made a couple of smart saves in the Deeping goal to keep it at 0-0 until just moments from the final whistle when Petrborough grabbed their late winner.
Terry Musgrove claimed the man of the match with a solid performance at left back.
Deeping still look far too good to be looking over their shoulder just yet, but it is imperative that they start to put a few wins together in the run up to the Christmas break if they are not to be dragged down into a relegation scrap.
