Market Deeping Ladies 2nd XI (7) vs Huntingdon Ladies 2nd XI (0)
A very strong Deeping team made short work of Huntingdon led by a hat-trick from skipper Nicky Buckby.
Deeping pressured non stop and were unlucky with a near miss on their first short corner. Buckby then scored from close range before touching home a short corner from Gemma Stuke for her second.
Jo Addison constantly threatened to wobble through Huntingdon’s leaky defence, and she scored two almost identical first half goals dribbling in down the right and smashing home, the second being as good a strike as you’ll see at this level. Deeping also missed a disputed penalty flick.
At half time Deeping made several changes, but the pressure continued, and Stuke found Deeping’s player of the match Katrina Kennedy in space. She swept home high into the net. Surging runs up the right touchline by Grace MacDonald caused panic in Huntingdon’s defence. Deeping lacked width throughout and would like to see other players follow her example.
Buckby then showed her growing ability and confidence by neatly stopping a very hard cross and smashing it past the competent Huntingdon keeper.
To round things off Amy Gwilliam scored from long range through a mass of sticks and defenders.

Cambridge City 4th XI (0) vs Market Deeping 1st IX (3)
Unbeaten Deeping went in to this game with some uncertainty as they were lacking the engine room of their midfield. The game plan was the same but the players were not and skipper Woods called for a disciplined performance.
As it was Deeping controlled the game from start to finish any Cambridge attacks were quickly snuffed out. Keeper Stu Ireland stayed strong and composed at the back and the makeshift defensive partnership of Andy Cannings and Pete Jeffery did themselves proud.
Deeping struck twice in the first half through Russ Seaton and Paul Tancred but in the second half Deeping weren’t as fluent but still kept control over the game.
Chris Mann grazed the post with what would have been contender for goal of the season and Deeping’s man of the match Treve Wagstaff tried to claim a goal even though most player thought the ball hadn’t gone in…
Paul Tancred put the game out of reach scoring after a very good passing move. Despite losing six points to an admin error promoted Deeping go to fourth in Div Two north.

Cambridge City 5th XI (2) vs Market Deeping 2nd XI (1)
Deeping will see this as two points lost after a good opening saw them take an early lead through Jack Seaton. They were seemingly in control all over the pitch in an opening ten minutes which showed just what Deeping are capable of when they are on form. Unfortunately Cambridge were soon back in the game through a well taken short corner, and when skipper Graham Brewer rashly committed himself to a tackle and came out without the ball, Stuart Ireland in the Deeping goal was left with a two on none which was duly dispatched from close range to give the home side the lead.
Deeping still felt at halftime that they were the better side, and came out for the second half in the mood to prove it, playing most of the remainder of the game in the Cambridge half. Man of the match Simon Biggs was calmness personified at the back, pushing forward with purpose throughout.
Chances kept going begging, and Deeping’s short corner routines simply failed to produce. Neil Burford produced cross after cross from the right hand side, but a Deeping stick was always just too far away to apply the finishing touch.
Last season this was a match Deeping would probably have lost, but there appears to be more belief throughout the club, and when Phil Yetzes pounced to knock home the equaliser with minutes remaining it still looked as if they would go on to grab the winner, but Cambs held firm to see out the draw.

Market Deeping 3rd XI (7) vs Spalding 3rd XI (3)
Deeping’s quick return to Div 6NW was disappointing but they thought they would quickly bounce back. It’s now clear that they’ll have to work hard for it, as the standard in this league is easily as high as in Div 5 last season. What looks like a crushing defeat of Spalding on paper was in fact a very close run thing until the final stages.
After ten minutes of Deeping pressure, Spalding scored out of the blue.
Deeping patiently applied the pressure again and Ben Walden cleverly deflected a pass into the roof of the net. Spalding had their best spell of the match and retook the lead from an acute angle, but before half time Walden scored from about six inches as the ball bobbled around in the D. Deeping Keeper Ray Isaacs made a good double save from a short corner.
A couple of Deeping’s better players had seemed a little out of sorts but Deeping came out the stronger side in the second half and Graham Barnes’ pin point pass was neatly swept home by Steve Waters. A superb Barnes penalty flick followed before Tom Shinkins cleverly deflected in Spalding’s third and Spalding began to dominate in the midfield. At this point it still looked very close but then Alex Gale, who could have had a double hat trick in the game, showed that he had listened to half time advice by flicking a superb goal from an acute angle on the left. Gale then followed up with almost a carbon copy from close range before Barnes popped up in a similar position, dummied a defender and pushed home from a couple of feet out.
Restored to full health, Deeping skipper Kev Baker made a huge difference in the midfield, while late in the second half, Matt Brown started to push up the right wing to good effect, supported by a very good little 20 minute cameo from Tom Allam. All Deeping’s men’s teams remain unbeaten in the league.
