Horncastle 1st XI (2) vs Market Deeping 2nd XI (0)
Despite the long journey Deeping turned up with a strong team for a relegation six-pointer – but no avail. They struggled to get to the pace of the game from the start and some committed hockey from Horncastle meant that Deeping were unable to settle into their normal passing game. Horncastle went ahead from a short corner on the stroke of half-time.
The second half went much the same way as the first half with Horncastle fighting for the victory to give them a chance of avoiding relegation.
Horncastle scored their second midway through the second half and despite a couple of chances near the end, MD didn't really look like being able to get back into the game.
At the end the team was very disappointed at losing to a team below them in the league. It leaves Deeping waiting on other results and hoping for three points from their final two matches.

Long Sutton 4th XI (2) vs Market Deeping 3rd XI (5)
Deeping couldn’t afford to lose this game if they wanted to achieve promotion this season. They were almost as strong as they could be and their performance was greatly improved even if they never hit the heights. Goal difference could be vitally important now, and the several chances that did go missing may come back to haunt them. Deeping started well and gradually the pressure on Long Sutton mounted. Clever work in front of the goal from Jack Seton set up Tom Allam to touch home reverse stick from close range. Then Simon Taylor tidied up a broken down short corner routine in the best way by moving wide into space and smashing it home.
Just before half time Deeping repeated a move on the top of the D – Russ Seton slipping the ball to Magnus Windsor for the second time in five minutes. This time Windsor slapped it unerringly into the corner of the goal.
Lots of good play was stemming from right wing Ben Dalgliesh, and after sloppy Deeping defence conceded a goal, Dalgliesh pounced on an error and set up the skillful Jack Seton who drew the keeper and scored. A freak Long Sutton goal from a huge looping deflection rattled Deeping, but Russ Setton bounced off a couple of half-heated tackles to get the fifth. The gap is six points, Deeping have the better goal difference with two games left to play and Spalding thirds have three, one against their own fourth team and another against Long Sutton. Deeping’s promotion destiny is in their own hands
