CAMBS LEAGUE DIV ONE
Market Deeping Ladies 1st XI (3) vs Cambridge South Ladies (0)
The ladies 1st and 2nd were disappointed to have both of their last league games conceded, giving a downbeat end to the season and an unimportant three points apiece
CAMBS LEAGUE DIV TWO

St Ives 1st XI (3) vs Market Deeping 1st XI (1)
Deeping played the champions elect at St. Ives and produced a useful performance despite being understrength. A bit more fight and a bit more luck and there could have been an upset.
A fast Deeping break cleverly marshaled by Paul Tancred saw Ali Rowledge roll the ball into an open goal and Deeping took an early lead. A good St. Ives move instantly equalised.
St. Ives took the lead in an evenly matched first half when they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty flick after clumsy ‘keeping.
Deeping never looked quite as good in the second half and persisted in trying to drive through the middle of the St Ives defence instead of moving wide to make space and use their extreme speed in attack.
A horrible bibbly bobbly short corner strike somehow found the net and St Ives defended their lead competently to the final whistle.
Division 4NW
Market Deeping 2nd XI (2) vs Wisbech 2nd XI (4)
The game started late as repairs had to be made to the goals. Yet more vanadalism at the Deeping astro had seen the nets cut and the net holder damaged. There was concern that the game may have had to be conceded.
Once play got under way Wisbech soon showed how they were top of the league. They were soon on the attack with pace and skill throughout the team.
Wisbech scored the opening goal after about fifteen minutes from a short corner. Deeping heads did not go down and the scores were soon level. Deeping attacked down the left and Wisbech committed a foul in the D. The Wisbech players stopped, expecting a whistle for the short corner - the umpires played a good advantage as the ball broke for Steve Waters who made no mistake from close range.
Deeping played some good committed hockey, fighting for every ball and defending high up the pitch. However the extra pace of the Wisbech team punished a rare mistake in defence and they led at half-time.
The second half started much as the first half ended. Wisbech soon extended their lead from another short corner.
The commitment levels on the pitch remained high and a Wisbech player was shown a yellow card after a second shoulder charge. Jeremy Phipps soon followed the Wisbech player off the pitch after hitting the ball way above his head.
Wisbech scored their fourth goal from another fast paced breakaway.
Deeping did manage a consolation goal with ten minutes to go, Simon Burnell scoring a fine drag flick goal from a short corner.
Overall Deeping played well despite the loss and were committed in the tackle. Next week's six pointer at Horncastle is likely to be the defining point of the season – they lost 9-1 on Saturday.
A win here will guarantee safety with two mores games to go.
Division 6NW
Market Deeping 3rd XI (3) vs Spalding 3rd XI (6)
Another lack-lustre performance by second-placed Deeping saw them fall into third-placed Spalding’s range. For promotion they vitally need a win next week having dropped eight points from the last nine. Father and son Jack and Russ Seton got two goals, Anthony Barnes got the other.
