| Bourne 2nd XI - 2 v Market Deeping 1st XI - 2 (Tancred 2)
This friendly was played at a frightening pace for an early-season game, and at a high skill level with the exception of some of the finishing. Deeping's passing was outstanding in the early part of the game, and with their wing-backs always involved they came close to dominating for long periods, finally taking the lead late in the first half through Paul Tancred.
Deeping had fewer substitutes than Bourne (only their limping leader Dave Grammer) and the lightning pace that they played at, and their reduction to ten men by a yellow card soon wore them down, while Bourne rotated their team intelligently.
Sensing their growing dominance Bourne drew a couple of excellent close range saves from Jason Purllant early in the second half before equalising then taking the lead.
As always, Deeping looked dangerous on the break, with Andy Kind being muscled off the ball as he tried to get up the right wing. In the last seconds of the game a good Deeping move saw Russ Seaton break into the D and when a Bourne defender stick-tackled him the flick was given with no hesitation. Tancred duly obliged to pinch what was, despite a fine Deeping performance, probably an undeserved draw on the day.
