Welcome to the website for Market Deeping Hockey Club (MDHC)
MDHC now plays in the following leagues: East Div 2N; E Div 4NW and
E Div 5NW covering all levels and abilities.
Our ladies, who re-formed as recently as 2004, have been one of the top sides in the Cambs. League Premier Division for several years and our 2nd XI, launched three years ago, enjoyed success with a young side in Cambs Div. 2.
This year we will continue our regular coaching sessions on Thursday evenings at Voyager School. We also welcome regular or aspiring hockey umpires at all levels.
Market Deeping is in south Lincolnshire - approximately 8 miles due north of Peterborough. Club colours are maroon shirts, white shorts, maroon socks (home); all white away. Our current home base is the Astroturf pitch at Voyager School, Mountsteven Avenue, Walton, Peterborough PE4 6HX.

Hockey mondays
Anyone else finding themselves wandering round the house on a saturday morning in a state of bemusement and feeling a distinct lack of purpose or meaning to your life?
Hang in there, the hockey drought will soon be over!
We have booked the astro at Deeping for 10 weeks every Monday evening from 8pm-9pm starting Monday June 6th for general hockey shenanigans.
Training in the loosest possible terms as in, sticks in the middle and away we go. We have the full pitch so can do 11-a-side, or go for small side games if people prefer.
The general idea is to get the 2 clubs together, mix people up, have a knock about and then go for a pint.
Hope to see you there.

Merger update
Ladies and Gentleman,
Slightly remiss of me not keeping you up to date as to the merger, please accept my apology.
The executive committee has been extremely hard at work understanding cultural implication and the dynamic that makes both clubs tick. Our overall priorities remain extant: 1st Support Junior Development, 2nd a permanent venue with facilities and an astro, 3rd club aspiration (in both playing and social) and stability (developing a short to long term strategy). The fundamentals behind the priorities are vast and as such have been spilt into several categories with sub deliverables:
Finance & Business
- Initial set up cost (New Club)
- Junior development – short to long term planning financial implications and on going support
- Members and match fees, (totally dependant on membership so as for now budgeting has to remain flexible, however current projections are they will remain the same or match fees might increase by £1 or £2)
- Short, medium, long term forecasting (predicting financial status at critical points)
- Permanent venue & facilities, (prior planning and engagement with like minded organisations)
- Sponsorship – (critical to the survival) business fairs/auctions, short to long term strategy for retaining interest, business case for the sports lottery (subsidy)
- Marketing – Club logo / kit
Club Structure
- Junior development – league interaction, sports partnership engagement and linear junior development throughout the club
- Team selection – initial and ongoing strategy (ensuring transparency and non-bias selection process leading into worth while and constructive coaching (for all social and aspirational players)
- Training dynamic (which pitch which date etc../ Coaching throughout the season (summer leading to full season)
Cohesion
- Initial focus – merger complications, culture implications
- Social functions, creating engagement between both clubs (a need to act sooner than later, functions throughout the season).
- Club days/ Club recruitment
- Tournaments – internal / external (mixed teams?)
- Juniors tournaments
Administration
- Constitution
- TORs (Job descriptions)
- Point of Contact: Liaison with England Hockey, East league, Cambs league, Umpire liaison
- Web page
- Club First Accreditation
Preparing the club for a long term future is no easy task and if you feel you can help in any way then please let me know. A recent concern a few members have had is that of the future name. At both EGM’s the members voted for their preferred name, the two names at 1st or 2nd choice were derivatives of Bourne Deeping either way ….Hockey Club. The executive committee thought that United would embody the spirit of the merger and therefore this was also considered, to that effect at the AGM two names; Bourne and Deeping Hockey Club, and Bourne Deeping United HC, are to be put to a vote. The under pinning theory behind the names is to attract sponsorship. (Background knowledge): Bourne’s Chair touched base with local businesses and their opinion was if they were to sponsor the club they needed the club to visually represent the local area, thus the above names. Sponsorship and fund raising is key to the future success of the club and it is important to get local businesses on board to help us achieve our long term aims of initial stability, and further down the line, finance for a new pitch, clubhouse etc. These businesses are looking to "buy into" the history and name of our 2 clubs rather than take a risk on a new name with no history or tradition, therefore it makes sense to combine the names.
The AGM is 10 May, 1900hrs (7pm) at the Red Lion West Deeping, please attend.
The AGM will take place at the Red Lion West Deeping @ 1900hrs on Tuesday 10 May 2011. Committee positions to be voted in are:

Vice Chairperson(s)
Club Secretary/League Liaison Officer
Business Manager (1)
Mens Club Captain
Ladies Club Captain
Fixture Secretary(ies)
Youth Development Officer (Girls and Boys)
Communications / Membership Secretary (2)
Umpire Liaison Officer
(1) The Business Manager will head up a Finance committee containing themselves, 2 treasurers and any other positions as required.
(2) The Communications / Membership Secretary would head up a sub-committee including Press Secretary, Web master etc
Please think how you are able to contribute and let me know if you are willing to take on one of the roles, contact me via email, phone by 3rd May 2011.
Once again sorry for the lack of communication however, we need your support to make this work.
Feel free to call if you wish to discuss.

Training Jacket
We have managed to negotiate a great deal with G & L Sports in Bretton Gate, Peterborough. The Training jacket (click on image for larger view) is an extremely attractive and functional piece of clothing that should satisfy all your needs.
The jacket will have the clubs logo on as well as your initials printed on and is priced at £32. With this you will also get 10% discount for the rest of the season on anything you purchase from G & L Sports.
All I need, if you are interested is your size, initials and then a cheque made payable to G & L Sports. I plan to place an order as soon as possible.
