Welcome to the website for Market Deeping Hockey Club (MDHC) Ladies 2009

MDHC now plays in the following leagues: East Div 2 N; E Div 3NW and E Div 5NW covering all levels and abilities.

Our ladies, who re-formed as recently as 2004, were second in the Cambs. League Premier Division last year and our 2nd XI, launched two years ago, finished second in Cambs Div. 2 and reached that league’s cup final for the second year running.

This year we will continue our regular coaching sessions from qualified coaches.

We also welcome regular or aspiring hockey umpires at all levels.

Market Deeping is in south Lincolnshire - approximately 8 miles due north of Peterborough. Club colours are maroon shirts, white shorts, maroon socks (home); all white away. Our current home base is the Astroturf pitch at the Deeping’s Leisure Centre.

A Christmas message from the Club Chairman

It has been a particularly testing first half of the season. The club has had to battle through many issues such as maintaining full squads to play each Saturday, the financial necessities and problems of making sure the club is secure and solvent, and the extra blow of the home pitch being condemned by the district council.

You could say that this is our bleak midwinter, but your committee has worked non- stop to ensure that you continue to enjoy the game you love as well as a prosperous future for the club.

The New venue at Voyager is absolutely superb, Fay has really surpassed herself with providing the club with one of the best pitches and facilities in the area, Francesca has kept the financial budget in order and the committee as a whole is striving to achieve the much needed First Club accreditation.

On the pitch, the mens teams seem to be having a tough time with the 2nd having an especially tough time in their new league and the 1st and 3rd teams getting a mixture of results. The ladies, on the other hand appear to be dominating their leagues, notwithstanding the pressures of selection and we all hope there may be another promotion!

Finally, from the committee and I - All the seasons’ greetings, enjoy your Christmas and New Year, eat too much, drink in moderation and remember hockey is for life.

Fondest Regards
